Best 10-Days Morocco Jewish Heritage Tour

Book the 8-days tour from Casablanca to Chefchaouen and embark on an interesting journey to the imperial city of Fes, Rabat and the site of Volubilis. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Casablanca - Rabat

Arrive in the international airport of Casablanca or pick up from your accommodation. We will visit the Hassan II Mosque, which is a unique masterpiece of architecture and is the third largest mosque in the Islamic World. Drive to the administrative capital of Rabat where we will spend our first night.

Day 2: Rabat - Meknes - Volubilis - Fes

After having breakfast in your Riad/hotel, we will spend the first half-day exploring the landmarks of Rabat. Meander around the dramatic Oudayas Kasbah, which is located by the sanctuary of Bou Regreg river and panoramically overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the authentic city of Sale.

Visit the Mohammed V Mausoleum, which is a masterpiece of architecture with its geometric designs, zellij-tiles and stucco-work. It is in here the grandfather, the father and uncle of the current king are burried. Enjoy the views of the impressive Hassan Tower, which was planned by the Al-Mansour Sultan in the 12th century to build the biggest mosque in the Islamic World. However, the big project did not complete because the Sultan passed away.

Later, we will continue on the track to the imperial city of Meknes. It was built and expanded by the Sultan Moulay Ismail in the 17th century starting with the long fortified walls. We will start our tour by the impressive Bab (Gate) Mansour, then stretch your legs in the El-Hedim Square and the nearby bustling market. Drive through the high-walls of the royal palace to the granaries and stables where the Sultan used to store grains and look after his 12.000 horses.

Drive to the nearby Roman ruins of Volubilis where we will learn about the Roman civilisation. We will resume our journey to Fes where we will spend our second night.

Day 3: Full-Day Exploring Fes

Today, you will spend the day exploring the best of Fes with a local private tour guide starting with a nice drive uphill to enjoy the panoramic view of the Fes el-Bali. The Fes el-Bali is listed by the UNESCO as a world heritage site and is the largest car-free district in the world. Take pictures by the golden gates of the royal palace, then meander around the Mellah (Jewsih Quarter) before heading to the old Medina.

Wander around the bustling Medina with its intricate alleyways, bustling cafes and vibrant Souks. We will pass by the Qarawiyyin Mosque, which is the oldest university in the world. Visit the Chouara Tanneries where you can learn about how the process of making the best quality of leather using traditional techniques.

You will then visit the bustling Souks that are organized into sections based on the specialty before escorting you back to the Riad/hotel.

Day 4: Fes - Chefchaouen

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, we will drive north to Chefchaouen through the spectacular Rif Mountains. We will include many stops for you to chill out and take pictures of the panoramic views. Upon arrival in the blue-city of Morocco, we will escort you to your Riad/hotel where you will receive a warm welcome by the staff members. In the evening, you may want to stretch your legs in the beautiful streets of the Medina before getting to the vibrant Utta Hammam Square.

Day 5: Full-Day Exploring Chefchaouen

We will spend the day unveiling the mystery of Chefchaouen and enjoying its immense beauty. Start your tour from the Utta Hammam Square, which is in the heart of the Medina. Visit the dramatic Kasbah, founded by Moulay Ali Ibn Rashid in the 15th century to fight against the Spanish and Portuguese invaders. Chefchaouen was later resided by an important Jewish community that were expelled from Andalusia and whose contribution into the economic development was important.

Meander around the beautifully-painted streets, which are often selected the most charming streets in the world. Photographers have been obviously attracted to Chefchaouen and you will see them around taking memorable shots. Arrive to the impressive Ras el-Ma spring offering panoramic views and a unique cultural hub with women washing clothes and carpets.

You may want to have a soft hike up to the adjacent hill from where a panoramic view of the Medina can be seen. Later, we will return back to the Square while enjoying the unique ambience where we will end up our exploration.

Day 6: Chefchaouen - Tetouan - Tangier

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, we will head further north to the UNESCO listed city of Tetouan. It is often called “the white pigeon” because of the white color with which it is painted. Explore the intact Medina of Tetouan, which was mainly resided by wealthy people where were expelled from Andalusia.

We will continue on the track to the mysterious city of Tangier, which overlooks Spain, Gibraltar and the Atlantic Ocean. Visit the promontory Cap Spartel where it is belived the Mediterranean & the Atlantic seas converge. Drive by the sea to the neolithic Hercules Caves that are shrouded in mystery before driving to our hotel/Riad where we will spend our 6th night.

Day 7: Explore Tangier - Asilah - Casablanca

Today, we will devote the first half-day exploring the mysterious Kasbah and Medina of Tangier with a local private tour guide. Visi the Kasbah Museum, which was resided by the Sultan Moulay Ismail in the 17th century and has been turned into a museum exhibiting antiques that are rich in history.

We will continue our walk to the vibrant Medina with its bustling Souks. Get to the petit Socco and the Gran Socco before continuing the track to the tranquil and charming town of Asilah. The streets of Asilah hosts an annual festival when painters from all over the world come to leave their artistic stamp in the walls of the Medina.

Take the highway to Casablanca where we will spend our last night.

Day 8: Airport Departure

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, we will assist you with your luggage before driving to the international airport of Mohammed V. This marks the end of our tour hoping you had an excellent experience with us.
